Biography

She practised judo and then, in 2008, was introduced to athletics by Laura Spagnoli, a former middle-distance runner from Rieti and a physical education teacher at the middle school in Poggio Mirteto.Trained by Riccardo Balloni, as a student, she also set the Italian junior indoor and outdoor records (both with 4.20), showing a continuity of performance which, in 2012, led her to raise the national under-20 limit to 4.35 outdoors and to win bronze at the World Junior Championships in Barcelona. The following year, the exploit: at 18, she rewrote the Italian indoor record twice in the space of a fortnight, with 4.51 and 4.60, just three centimetres from the world junior indoor record. After a few difficult seasons and a spell in Prague, under the guidance of Zdenek Lubensky, she returned to flying high, first with gold at the Universiade in Naples 2019 and then, this year, by twice setting and improving the Italian record to 4.70. A student of forestry sciences and a great animal lover, she flies to Tokyo as an Italian record holder.
