Biography
Her grandfather was from Friuli, and her grandmother from Tuscany; after they moved to Des Moines, Iowa, Giancarla’s father was born - an Italian architect who then moved to Southern California for work. Raised in Laguna Beach, her first sport was football as a striker. Known as “the fastest player in the conference”, a knee injury led to her decision to switch to athletics. A great deal of progress in 2018 led her to victory in the 400m in the Finale Oro dei Societari. After getting married, she moved to Florida in autumn 2020. In 2021 she set a personal record of 52.46. She studied psychology and sports management. In her spare time she enjoys painting and expressing her artistic side, but she also enjoys windsurfing.
