Biography

Gerhard discovered his talent by cycling the trails in the valley near his family home. Fun was combined with duty; he helped his grandfather with the alpine pasture, an activity that allowed him to finance the purchase of a brand new mountain bike and to start on a path that would soon become his life. Naturally-talented and an absolute star as a junior, he won the Under 23 world champion title in 2013. He went on to win second place in the 2018 World Championships for Italy’s first ever silver medal in mountain biking. He has a very close-knit family and is rather down-to-earth: serious, scrupulous and professional, he works with the Specialized Factory Racing team to pursue perfection and reach the highest peak among the discipline’s elite.
