Biography

2021 is the year of examinations: school examinations for the scientific baccalaureate and sports examinations. At the age of 19, she is living her Olympic dream, a bit like her mother Fiona May, the two-time long jump world champion who made her debut in the Olympics when she had barely come of age. Athletics is a family affair - her father and coach, Gianni, was the Italian pole vaulter, though before athletics she competed in dance, swimming, and artistic gymnastics. Then, from 2015, she immediately showed her talent both on the track and on the platform. In 2019, she took off: with a jump of 6.64, she became the Italian record holder not only at junior and cadet level, beating Maria Chiara Baccini's record (6.55), which had stood since 1998; then she won gold at the European Under-20 Championships in Boras. Then, in 2020, she flew to 6.80, becoming the second Italian ever. This year, finally, she recorded a resounding 6.91, which earned her the under-20 world indoor record, equalling her mother's absolute national indoor record. This long-distance confrontation is inevitable, but she jokes about it: "at least the records stay in the family". Raised in the spotlight and known to the general public for a well-known TV commercial, she is ready to take the limelight on the Tokyo stage as the face of a well-known fashion house.
