Biography
Judo moulded his personality, the tatami mat his cradle. His parents initially took him to watch his brother Daniel train, and, by the time he himself then started to train, he was still wearing nappies. Raised at the Akiyama Settimo Torinese like Fabio Basile, in Tokyo he will try to bring the gold back to Italy, just as his friend had in Rio 2016. In Lisbon this year he won continental gold in the 66kg, following on from his victories in the cadet (2015) and junior (2018) bands. He excels in title matches, while the rest are “test matches”. It’s destiny.
