Biography
Originally from Brembate, she was introduced to artistic gymnastics at just 3 years old, when her mother enrolled her in courses at the gym in Trezzo. At the age of 5, she entered Ginnastica Artistica Treviolo, where she met Irene Castelli, an Olympic athlete at the 2000 Games in Sydney, who immediately noticed her great determination and desire to continue training more than the others in order to improve. At 8, she embarked on her first trip - accompanied by her trainer - to Brescia to be observed by Enrico Casella. After two years ‘commuting’, at just 10 years old Giorgia left home to join the Brixia academy on a permanent basis. Even a serious injury to her Achilles tendon did not bring her down, and in 2018 she revealed herself to the world, absolutely dominating the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, where she won 3 gold medals and one silver; on the final day, she was the flag bearer for Italy in the closing ceremony. Having completed the Seniors, she immediately won the final in the individual general competition at the European Championships in Poland, and at the World Championships in Stuttgart - along with her companions - she brought the Italian national team back to the podium after 69 years, winning a historic bronze medal in the team competition.
