Biography
Elisa’s career in gymnastics is thanks to the passion passed on to her by her parents. Her interest was sparked after having seen the video of Nadia Comăneci at the 1976 Olympics in Montreal, and it is no coincidence that the asymmetrical parallel bars are her favourite apparatus. She began to be noticed at an international level in 2016, then as of the following year, she began training at the Brixia academy under the guidance of the TD Enrico Casella. Summoned to the national team for the EYOF in Gyor in 2017, she won the gold medal in the parallel bars and the silver in the team competition. The following year at the Junior Europeans in Glasgow, she repeated the feat, winning the team gold and the bronze for the beam. Her international debut at the senior level was not the best: at the Europeans in Szczecin, Elisa fell short of reaching the finals (in the general competition, as two of her companions came ahead of her), but in 2019 in the World Championships in Stuttgart, she was finally confirmed. In the team competition, Elisa won a historic bronze medal and reached the final in the individual all-round, though was eventually unable to finish the final due to a minor injury. At 18 years old, she will be arriving in Tokyo for her Olympic debut, with all the makings of an excellent competitor.
