Biography

The Italian single scull hadn’t managed to qualify for the Olympic Games since Athens 2004, but it will be back in Tokyo 2020 thanks to Simone, who obtained the qualification by coming in 9th place at the last World Championships. He started out playing basketball, then moved to rowing, which he loves because it allows him to be in contact with the water and enjoy the splendid views on offer during training. At the same time, he participates in the coastal rowing competitions, which take place in the sea: a speciality in which he was also world champion. His girlfriend and rowing partner is Alessandra Patelli, who was also at Rio 2016. He remains unwavering in the face of difficult challenges and, as he is greatly interested in the shipbuilding industry, alongside his sporting career he is also doing a PhD in Industrial and Information Engineering at the University of Trieste.
