Biography
Well-rounded racer, he is capable of showing his worth uphill, in time trials and in the final sprint. For this reason, even if he considers himself more a cyclist for races divided in stages, he gives his best also in the classic one-day races. Born in Ragusa, as many fellow countrymen he was forced to leave home to follow the cycling dream, after getting close to this sport relatively late in life (when he was 15). Even though he has not reaped many successes, he has been a crucial element in the strategic layout of his previous teams, to mark the rising rhythm of the likes of Nibali and Basso. If he had not succeeded in fulfilling his dream of becoming a professional cyclist, he would have continued his studies and got a degree in Engineering.
