Biography
After his experience at Rio 2016 on the 49er together with Pietro Zucchetti, the 29-year-old officer in the Guardia di Finanza will be competing in the waters of Enoshima as a team with Caterina Banti in the Nacra 17 class. The helmsman from Trentino was one of the first to get involved with foils, to the point of abandoning the fast skiff and venture onto the mixed catamaran. He has found his sailing alter ego in Caterina, and they immediately proved to be a winning combination. In their first year together, they became the European champions, whilst in 2018, they literally dominated the international scene: world gold, the second European gold medal (he won the third one in 2020), winning the World Cup Finals and entry to the Olympics. Although he turned up at Rio with just a youth silver to his name, this time around, anyone who wants to challenge his impressive collection of medals will have to deal with the Italian crew.
