Biography

The talented judoka from Settimo Torinese began to make a name for himself as a cadet, winning a gold, silver and two bronzes in the European and World Youth Championships, until his third place at the 2013 Mediterranean Games (at 19 years old) allowed him to begin to climb up the senior ranks. He loves socialising and connecting with people: his strength is his family, who follow him constantly. He earned the right to participate in Rio 2016 on a knife’s edge thanks to an exponential rise, and from that day on his destiny has been intertwined with the Olympics: his success in Brazil bestowed him with Italy’s 200th Olympic gold medal at the Summer Olympic Games. He has also had some television experience in the last five years, including a reality show, but judo has remained the centre of his world. In his free time he relaxes with films and music. He enjoys putting his emotions on paper, and may pen his autobiography after Tokyo. The best pages have yet to be written.
