Biography

He grew up in the Sai Assicura Roma team and did a bit of everything, from running to jumping, until he was 19. He became a race walker under the guidance of Daniela Ricciutelli and the late Cristiana Pellino. He joined the Fiamme Gialle in October 2001 and proved to be one of the most reliable in the 50km, trained by Patrizio Parcesepe. He came third in the 2016 World Team Championships in Rome with a personal best. From October 2016 he was being coached by Giovanni De Benedictis, Olympic 20km bronze medallist in 1992, but at the end of 2019 he returned to Parcesepe. Married to Claudia, he is the father of two girls and has also dabbled as a model in the past. He took part in seven World Championships, with three Olympic appearances.
