Biography

It was no mean feat to come back to rowing after the operation for the herniated disc that took him out of action for an entire season. Then came the injury of his partner, Matteo Lodo. However, the coxswain of the Italian national coxless pair is now back in the race and still aiming high. After the world gold and European bronze in the coxless four, he took part in the 2016 Games in Rio, bringing home a bronze medal. His adventure in the coxless pair started the following year, when he made history by winning Italy’s first world gold medal in this speciality. From Naples to Los Angeles for Oscar night, from the boat to the catwalk, Giuseppe enjoys an action-packed career both in and out of the water. As a boy, he wanted to become a mechanical engineer due to his passion for cars, especially Ferraris, but he is now living out his true dream.
