Biography

He made his dream come true with the Olympic bronze medal in Rio 2016, but despite his age he feels that it is not yet time for him to throw in the towel and, after a break of a few months, he immediately took up his oars once more and launched himself back into his training. His life is split between the boat and his home, where he lives with his wife Francesca and their children Laura and Fabrizio. His father Nino is his biggest supporter, partly because he is also a former rower, whilst his grandfather Carlo Rolandi, a former sailor, has been honorary president of Federvela. As he is already the world and European champion in the coxless four, he offers his companions his international experience and feisty character, a trait to which all of his successes can be attributed. He also inherited a passion for motorbikes from his father, but at the moment he only wants to be the fastest man on water.
