Biography
With Tokyo 2020, he is in fifth gear. After four Olympic experiences, crowned with the silver medal in Beijing 2008 and the presence in Rio 2016 in the eight, he returned to the quad scull and put his experience at the service of his teammates. Son of Silvano, who starred in the Azzurri's jersey in the 1980s, he approached rowing when he was just 11 years old, and in Japan he has the chance to put the seal on a career that has seen him climb onto the world and European podiums (most recently gold in Varese 2021). He is the father of Gioele and, since 2013, has been married to actress and model Valeria Altobelli, who represented Italy at Miss World 2004. In Tokyo, it will be his turn to hold up the Tricolour.
