Biography

Daughter of retired cross-country skier Guidina Dal Sasso and sister of former cyclist Paolo Longo Borghini, Elisa started cycling at the age of nine as she followed in her brother's footsteps. She is a good all-round cyclist: she has a strong uphill pace, she completes fast time trials and is a breakaway specialist, as evidenced by her long list of victories achieved since 2011 (in 2020 she won the World Championship bronze medal and the European silver medal). The first Italian woman to win the Tour of Flanders (2015), Elisa has established herself as one of the leaders in Italian cycling. She won the bronze medal in the women’s road race at the Olympic Games in Rio and almost gained a place on the podium for the time trial. Nicknamed Wikipedia by her friends due to her memory, she believes that her real hidden talent is her ability to milk a cow.
A toy wolf accompanies Elisa in every race. She received this gift from her boyfriend Ciro before leaving for Rio and she will never be without it.
