Lucilla Boari won the Olympic bronze medal and made history in Italian archery. It has never happened before in the history of the Olympic Games that an Italian archer has won a five-circle medal. It happened in Tokyo 2020 with Lucilla, who, in the final for third place, beat the American Mackenzie Brown 7-1. On her way to the bronze medal, the Italian had lost in the semifinals 6-0 to the athlete of the Russian Olympic Committee Elena Sipova, while she had defeated 6-2 the Chinese Jiaxin Wu and passed in the quarter-finals 6-5, after the play-off (10-9), the Belarusian Hanna Marusava. After nine years, the Italian archery team returns to the Olympic medal table (men's team gold in London 2012). For the Italian Team, it is the 20th medal at Tokyo 2020.
