Biography
The Queen of Italian swimming and an international icon, Fede, at the age of 33, is participating in her fifth Olympics. The story started with a silver in Athens 2004 and continued with a gold in Beijing 2008. Then a wake of successes at the World Championships, in which she has been to the podium in every championship since 2005, becoming the first and only swimmer in history able to win 8 consecutive medals in as many championships, and the most successful athlete ever in her race, the 200m freestyle. From a child prodigy to a conscious woman, she has spent a life at the Verona pool, but she has also managed to allow herself diversions into other passions such as television and catwalks. The reigning world champion (gold both in Budapest 2017 and in Gwangju 2019) and holder of the 200m freestyle world record for over 10 years, she was the Italian standard-bearer in Rio 2016 and is now in Tokyo to round off a simply legendary career. She is nominated as an athlete for membership as an IOC Member.
