His father Francesco played in Italy´s Serie C basketball league, while his mother Marisa played in the Serie A. From his parents, he´s inherited a passion for basketball and a love for Africa, where his parents, both doctors, lived for two years to help others. In Tanzania, Ricci learned to appreciate the value of time, while in his home town of Chieti, he played basketball in Italy´s youth Giovanili league. In 2017 he was signed on by Vanoli Cremona; an Italian team that made gave him his debut in Italy's top basketball division, Lega Basket Serie A, under the guidance of coach Sacchetti and the club with which he won the Italian Basketball Cup in 2019. From the summer of 2019 he plays for Virtus Bologna, the team with which he won the Scudetto during the 2020/2021 season. In 2014 "Pippo" won the GIBA Oscar as the most improved DNA Silver 13/14 championship player, winning three years later the European University Basketball Championship wearing the CUS Bologna jersey. In addition to sports, he excels at university and will soon be graduating in mathematics. In Tokyo, he´ll be a worthy opponent.
