Biography

He is the son of Azzurra basketball player Malì Pomilio who played for Italy´s national team and hurdler Daniele Fontecchio, an Olympic semifinalist in Los Angeles in 1984. He´s also the nephew of basketball player Vittorio Pomilio, who made 19 appearances for the national team, and the brother of Luca, who won the silver medal with the Under 20 team in 2011. Coming from a family of elite athletes, he grew up while attending the Amatori Pescara youth academy before moving to Virtus Bologna, where he made his Serie A basketball league debut during the 2012/13 season. The father of little Bianca, he is eager to tell her about his efforts in bringing the national team back to the Games after 17 years and about the five-ring dream he is now living in Tokyo 2020.
