Biography
Her passion for athletics was passed on to her by her father Paolo, an amateur walker, and her mother Ornella, a runner. However, Elena started out in the gym, devoting herself for some time to rhythmic gymnastics. She started with athletics at the age of 13. After her first experiences in the cross-country events, she underwent a leap of quality to the junior category. At the World U18 Championships she narrowly missed the 800 finals and, in 2014, at the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, she came close to the podium. She then joined the Fiamme Azzurre. She studied languages at school which involved Chinese, as well as English and French. She is a law student and a big fan of adventure novels, travelling and skiing.
