Biography
He is the breaststroke man and the captain of the national swimming team. In 2011, he had a dream season winning two silver medals at the Shanghai World Cup in the 50m and 100m breaststroke, then a torn cruciate ligament seemed put his career in doubt, but, after a long rehabilitation and new technical choices, he has managed to improve himself with time. He has a reckless soul that leads him to love speed and extreme sports, but in his private life, all his “folly” is for Martina Carraro, a fellow breaststroke swimmer with whom he shares his house and training. After the defeat at the London Games, in which he finished only seventh in the 100m breaststroke, he decided to get a tattoo with five circles with a clock fixed at the finishing time, so as not to forget the disappointment of that moment, but also to have the motivation to carry on and improve. He failed to qualify for Rio, so Tokyo has the air of redemption.
