Biography
Born into a family of athletes: his father Elio played baseball, while his mother Piera was in the national softball team, and his cousin Maria Clara Giai Pron participated in the slalom canoe at the London 2012 Games. With his height, he could have played basketball, which however went no further than a fan's passion, while in his early days in football, he was a defender. Later on, it was his mother who took him to the swimming pool, where his sister was already training. At 19, he became European champion of the “Gara Regina” race, the 100m freestyle, and a few days later at the national championships, he set a new Italian record of 47”92. He studies motor sciences in Turin but is now preparing to storm his first Olympic Games.
