Biography
All athletes have an idol, an example whom they look up to for inspiration.But in the case of the 34-year-old from Lombardy, this is no ordinary role model: Mauro’s favourite animal has been the fox since he saw the animated film of Robin Hood as a child, something which left him with no doubts as to which sport he would like to get into. The road to Tokyo has been one paved with ever-improving results, even in adverse conditions. One example came last year in Minsk when, during the European Games, he won the individual and mixed team golds, despite the rain and strong wind. With the team, he has already placed twice on the Olympic podium, winning the silver in Beijing 2008 and the gold in London 2012. Now participating for the fourth time, he wants to hit the bullseye once again.
