Biography
She is the daughter of two masters: her mother-trainer, Rossella Gramola, is a former Italian middle-distance runner, and her father, Gianni Del Buono, was the Italian record holder for various medium distances. From a very young age Federica practised swimming and basketball, but above all she attended gyms for several years to practice modern dance and hip hop in particular. After a first few occasional attempts, she got seriously involved in athletics tracks in 2011. She lives and trains in Vicenza, where she wore the jersey of the local Atletica Vicentina team until 2013, the year she joined the Forestale. This brought a huge accomplishment for her, and not only in terms of time. In 2014 she earned fifth place at the European Championships in Zurich, followed by bronze at the European Indoor Championships in Prague in 2015. Several injuries have held her back in recent seasons. Her first return was in the autumn of 2019, with surgery on her right ankle in June 2020, and a return to a good level in the 2021 indoor season, while also making use of a technical collaboration with Umberto Pegoraro. She studies sports science.
