Biography
Just one ‘B’ sets his surname apart from that of the brothers who made rowing history, and it is in their wake that he is also making his contribution to expand Italy’s series of successes in this discipline. It looked as though he was going to follow a career in basketball, until a teacher at school convinced him to give rowing a go. Sacrifices and crack-of-dawn alarms abounded, but along with them came plenty of healthy competition and an environment that he found exhilarating. At the age of just 20, he won his first Olympic medal: an important result that give him an injection of enthusiasm and spirit to train even harder. In Rio, he managed to win a surprising bronze, and he has placed no limits on his abilities for Tokyo.
