Biography

For her, judo is pure happiness, life, fun - her “safe place”. It’s the best way she has found to repay the sacrifices her family have made. And the 26-year-old has done a wonderful job: having won silver in Rio 2016, in 2020 she brought Italy back to the forefront of Europe after 12 years - a feat she came close to repeating this year when she won continental silver. The tatami is her “world”; she came to it following her brother’s footsteps and after having tried swimming, rhythmic gymnastics and ballet. Tokyo will be her second Olympic experience, where she is ready to take on the world.
