Biography
While five years ago he returned from Rio with two bronze medals around his neck, he feels anything but satisfied. Under the careful and constant guidance of his uncle, coach Stefano Morini, he has started training again, and at the 2017 World Championships, he won a gold medal in the 800m freestyle and a bronze medal in the 400m freestyle, a result also repeated two years later in Gwangju. In the “otto vasche” race he set a new Italian record, which had been unbeaten for 17 years and belonged to his idol Massimiliano Rosolino and, after a shoulder injury that kept him out for a season, he is ready to torment all his opponents and to improve again. A chirpy man from Livorno, he is Inter Milan fan and, as he writes in his social profiles, his motto is “hakuna matata”, meaning “without thoughts”.
